I'll Change The Gear

There are times we have to change direction...

In our life there are times we have to change direction, change our perspectives and change our decision..

I will call it as changing the gear.. Sometimes we have to increase the gear to go faster.. Sometimes we have to reduce the gear to climb up the hill. Sometimes we stop when we are facing troubles in front.

This is what we called as life. We, human, keep on changing to stay alive..

To keep on change for better, what I need is hope.

The hope and the dreams that I sealed in my heart, God knows the best.

Rather than me running to it I chose walking. Walking made me aware things better..

So, take one pace on another, keep on moving, with hope I'll be there..

Fariza, keep on moving, do it, do it better.

Hey, I will change the gear !!

The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones is a story of how a mother, a father, sister and brother going through their life from time to time after facing the lost of one of their family member.

The story begins with this,

"My name was Salmon, like the fish: first name Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973."

It is unique and rare for me because the story was told by the victim's world view from the heaven. From Susie's heaven view, the readers were brought to visit the life of people that still alive on the earth.

It is not a mystery book since the killer were told from the beginning and it is not the main theme. Alice Sebold writing the story of how people goes on with their life after a tragedy. Susie's father, Mr. Salmon, lived his life thinking of the murderer and silently missing her. His instinct told him that Mr. Harvey is the killer but there is no evidence that can relate to him. He silently keep his feeling by keeping Susie's clothes, shoes and silently adore her picture. The way Sebold write it really made me realize that man hold their feeling deep in their heart and hard to let it go.

Susie's sister, Lindsey live her life the fullest. I think. She's accepting the death easier compared the others. Susie describing Lindsey's life as the life that she will have if she is alive. Lindsey believe her father and investigate Mr Harvey's house. She almost being caught but manage to run away. She went to college and finally marry her boyfriend.

Susie's mother ran away after her death leave her young brother Buckley. I hate her mother for leaving the family. However, same as Mr. Salmon, deep in her heart she still keeping the memory of Susie.

The ending of the story, Sebold made it clear to the reader that all of them were move on. However, I hate it when Mr Harvey is not being caught. He live his life freely but finally die while stalking another girl.

The character that I like the most is Ruth. I'm not mentioning her name before, but she is the only person that believe that Susie was there and watching them from heaven..

3 stars for 'The Lovely Bones'!!

Haruki Murakami: Running

This book originally published in Japan as "Hashiru Koto Ni Tsuite Kataru Toki Ni Boku No". Then it was traslated into English by Philip Gabriel with its English title as "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running". This book gives us a peek look of this famous writer's personal life through his running activity.

Underground is his first book that I read. Since then, Murakami became my favourite author. When I saw this book with Murakami name as its author I am so exited and quickly grabbed this book. I said to myself, "Oh, Murakami was writing a book about running?". I am very curious about it.

I am a walker myself. I love walking for a long distance but I never participated in any race. Sometimes I take my own time for a walk to Taman Jaya and sometimes just around the house. Reading this book is like sharing my experience with a friend who understand me. He shared his view about life, about getting old, about change, about failing, about achieving and more.

Reading this book, revealed his true self not only as a famous writer but as a normal person. I was quite shocked that he just started writing when he was 29 years old. He was inspired while watching a baseball game. The funny thing is that when he wanted to start writing then he just realized that he do not have a pen and had to buy it from Kinokinuya. This is an inspiring start for me because Murakami life story make me realize that we can change at any time and we can achieve anything as long as our mind into it.

One of his best achievement after he started to become a full time writer is that he change his lifestyle from unhealthy into more healthy lifestyle through running. Not long after he decided to start running he also gave up smoking. He wrote " Quitting smoking was like a symbolic gesture of farewell to the life I used to lead". From here, I understand that Murakami has a strong will that is one of his important character that shape him into becoming a good writer.

He also share his feeling after he became a writer, he said

" The happiest thing about becoming a professional writer was that I could go to bed early and get up early."

His philosophy of life is simple, he just said; "lets face it". For me, he live his life by thinking positively and keep on trying and achieving. He put on target on everything his been doing like he stating the distance that he must run per day, time for writing, and more.

Overall, this book is one of his precious soul and I am looking forward for his other books. So far I only read his non-fiction book and I hope that I will read and appreciate his fiction more after this. Go Murakami!!

Anugerah Buku Negara 2010

Kecoh..

1. Tan Sri Sanusi Junid
2. Ramlee Awang Murshid
3. S.H. Alattas
4. Dato' Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim
5. SN Shahnon Ahmad

Kenapa pelik?

1. Kategori penulis yang bercampur-campur.. penulis politik, penulis 'thriller', penulis novel sastera..dan entah apa..

Check them out!

p/s: Poster tu pun macam nampak PELIK! Kan?

Kemudian Nafiz bersuara lagi.

Nafiz memandang saya sungguh-sungguh. " Demi Allah aku mencintaimu sahabatku."

Tokoh-tokoh Besar Gerakan Islam Dalam Sejarah

Gomo Kelate Gomo!! hehe
Bendera Kelantan dipamerkan di kedai serbaneka..
